 Unit 23 Today's lesson 3:               Digital Media Year 13   Thursday 21st  01.2021

  • Check blogs are all set up and working.

  • Email all mind maps from last week.

  • Any worries?

On your unit 23 blog use the title:

‘LO1. 1.2 ‘What is the best type of CV? ‘

On your unit 23 blog use the title:

LO1. 1.4 Repurpose this! This task links into the mindmaps you created in week 1.

One of the main outcomes for this unit is to repurpose an existing piece of media work into a different format. I will explain what specific pieces/ medium and explain how this could be repurposed.

Examples could include: a computer game that could be adapted to an audio visual promo; film footage which could be adapted to be a trailer; a photograph which could be adapted to be a magazine front cover; a piece of editorial to a magazine article.

Brainstorm ideas and create a list of mediums and the possible ways those mediums could be repurposed.

We will now discuss your ideas as to why and how repurposing occurs especially in your work.

Some interesting ideas about repurposing can be found at: http://coschedule.com/blog/repurpose-your-content/

Subheading:

LO2 2.1 Physical to digital (ensure all work on paper is digitised)

You will need to be able to explore and show different ways of digitising physical/hard copy media work.

You must explain how to use a scanner, tablet device, digital camera or smartphones to put a piece of physical work into an electronic format.  (You all do this day in day out). Explain which work you have had to digitise your work - use your mind maps to assist you . Explain  the processes you have used including how you have had to take a photograph of a piece of work on paper, using your smartphones. Did you email the file to yourselves, or transfer the file direct to a computer, depending on connections available.

Subheading:

LO2 2.1 File formats:

You must show and explain how different file types and formats may impact on the quality of their electronic work.

Complete the table with the following headings: Medium; File type (high quality); File type (low quality).

You must research appropriate file types for the different mediums, indicating the difference for high and low quality formats.

Useful information about file types: http://fileinfo.com/filetypes/common

Eg. Susie has a collection of creative media work and wants to know what is the best file format for uploading each medium to her own dedicated website. They have all been digitised, but not necessarily to the most appropriate file format.

type (e.g. different mediums, rough drafts, edited versions, finished products) 

digital (e.g. file types - jpeg, bmp, gif, mov, avi, mp3, wav, doc, pdf) 

physical (e.g. paper, photo, canvas, print, portfolio)

This will take two hours to complete including two hours homework to complete all blogs and add work to blog
